Two Winter Afternoon Dresses

Left: white dress with small train and a red belt, red ribbons form an ‘X’ on each sleeve and hem trimmed with red triangles. Low collar lined with a narrow white lace ruffle, long white gloves up to the sleeves, plain white ankle length underskirt. Large red and white feather attached by three gold and sea foam green headbands that connect at the neck, gold drop earrings, three strand necklace of light green beads with a small cross. She wears yellow shoes. She walks down the stairs, holding up the front of her dress, and touches the other woman’s left shoulder with her left hand.
Right: wears a long, white, patterned dress with three quarter length sleeves and long yellow above the elbow gloves. Her dress has a square neck, five gathered or open sections on the sleeve, and two pleats in the back. The fabric has a pattern of small, black dots and tiny arrow-like, or fleur de lis, shapes. In her hair, she wears a large blue and white feather plume attached by two silver headbands that meet at the nape of her neck. She wears silver earrings and a double strand necklace of silver beads. She faces away with her hand on the stair rail, looking toward the other woman. There is a chandelier in the background.
