Current Release: The Viscount’s Pleasure House
Describe your current release in two sentences?
In exchange for information about his mother and sisters, London’s most notorious Viscount is coerced into allowing three respectable women to visit his Pleasure Houses. Each lady comes to the pleasure gardens a little naive, but leaves as knowledgeable as a well schooled courtesan and though the world-weary viscount falls in head over heels in love with one of the ladies, he struggles to find reasons to convince her to trust him.
What have you had to give up to pursue your writing career?
I gave up full time work when an accident forced me to spend my time either at medical appointments or at home. I kept myself entertained by reading over a thousand romances before deciding to pursue the silver lining in this dark cloud and seizing this chance to make my dream of writing romance a reality. Writing romance gave me a new purpose in life and I’ve become friends with authors and readers all over the world.
What are you working on?
My second book, another historical romance but sexy rather than erotic, releases through Crimson Romance Historical in April 2013. I also have other historical romances lined up for final edits and then publishing.
What is your ultimate writing goal?
My goal is to write and release 4-5 books, novellas, or short stories every year.
I’d like them to be a mix of late Regency historical romances and erotic historical romances with a little bit of Australian history added.
Do you have a comfort food? What is it?
My comfort food is actually a drink. I’m a huge tea drinker and can’t survive more than 2 hours without it. This comes from my English and Scottish ancestry combined with the outback Australia habit of boiling the billy and making a cuppa whenever and wherever you can.
Where is your favorite place to write?
I use my laptop with a laptop table all over the house and garden due to muscle problems associated with sitting too long in one spot. But the constant changes of scenery also inspire my writing.
What career fields have you worked in?
Moving around a lot led to me working in many different areas and countries. I started as a nurse, midwife, and counsellor and later became a business owner and cattle farmer. A bit of everything.
What are your plans for the next year? Any books you are looking forward to?
After my second release in April, I hope to continue my historical sexy series with books 2 and 3 and write more historical erotic romances. I also have an historical romance with a touch of mystery that begins in the New Hebrides in the Pacific Ocean and ends in London when Lady Katharine and her hero track a killer back to her place of origin.
How was your road to publication?
My road to publication was definitely slow and rocky due to ongoing health problems. Now I’m pleased I’ve had a few years to learn as much as I could about becoming an author and the publishing world and to have had time to enter several books in contests and get feedback from a variety of authors and readers.
If you could time travel, where would you travel to and why?
I’d love to go back to very early Victorian times as I’m fascinated by this age of invention and industrial expansion and often write about the early railway years in England or shipping from England to the Pacific Island or Eastern countries.
Thanks for having me at Night Owl Reviews and huge thanks to all the readers of romance around the world. I love reading and writing romance and hope we can share thousands more wonderful stories.
