1790-1810 ca. Front Lacing Linen and Metal Corset, American Or European. Gathering under the bust helps keep the breasts secure. Front lacing and shoulder strap ties make it easy to adjust the corset without assistance.
This corset is a transition from the Georgian Era when fabrics of under and outerwear were heavy and decorative and garments were extravagant, to the high-waisted Regency years when styles were simpler and fabrics were light and flowing. Laced brocade lacing stays gave way to linen wraps and partly laced corsets.
